KATUSHA, in London for the Rouleur Classic

There’s something special about spending time with cycling friends, whether it’s going on a group ride from a favourite coffee shop, browsing through booths at a bike show or just hanging out to talk about equipment. These past few days in London at the award-winning Rouleur Classic have been spectacular, bringing together professional riders and fans all under one roof, to talk about ‘the good ol’ days’ of cycling, to scope out new products and even hop on the bike for a London ride - the complete makings for a 360-degree KATUSHA event.

Thursdays night brought the opening of the Rouleur Classic to kick off our KATUSHA experience. The Classic, this year located in Victoria House, Holborn, is known for creating buzz about new trends and ideas in cycling. KATUSHA Sports had a booth set up at the show, featuring the full line of clothing available now and in the near future. On display were the winter Performance and Commuter collections as well as a preview of the 2017 summer Performance collection. It’s one thing to see the kit hanging on a rack or mannequin and quite another to have Team KATUSHA riders Rein Taaramäe and Alexander Kristoff, and 3-time Olympic champion Viachezlav Ekimov there to answer questions about the products, hand out autographs and pose for a photograph. All three were featured guests in the Theatre and fielded questions from the audience, marking a memorable evening to kick off the KATUSHA experience.

Walking around the Rouleur Classic was enough to whet the appetite for a bike ride and Friday morning brought the opportunity to do just that in a breakfast ride as the first KATUSHA London ride. The ride was predominantly available for ticket holders of the Friday Rouleur Classic, as a pre-show experience, and also extended to the Canyon network and friends of KATUSHA in London.

The ride started from The Dynamo Café in Putney Bridge, a unique cycling inspired café, and was led by none other than 3-time Olympic champion Ekimov as well as KATUSHA rider Taaramäe. It was a real chance to ride with the Pros on bikes supplied by Canyon on a lovely autumn morning in London. There was plenty of time on the ride to ask Rein and Eki questions about the Canyon bikes and the KATUSHA Sports clothing, snap selfies, get training tips, as well as try to get some scoop about plans for the upcoming 2017 cycling season. Plus the group were product testers of the KATUSHA Sports winter jackets on the 40km ride around Richmond Park. Afterwards it was back to The Dynamo to reward the group’s efforts with good tasting pizza, a perfect way to end the morning ride.

Cycling is really all about enjoying life with friends on two wheels, where there is always plenty of time to chat, share a laugh or two and make plans for future rides. Look for the 360-degree KATUSHA experience to be available in Paris soon as well. We’re busy transforming one-quarter of the Steel Bike Store into a KATUSHA shop-in-shop with the official launch in a few weeks and another opportunity to ride with KATUSHA.
